Dear FineMark Client,
As you may be aware, a dangerous flaw has been discovered in the key safety feature for surfing secure websites, specifically, the feature that keeps your private information hidden. It’s called the Heartbleed bug and it creates a hole in the encryption software used by the majority of the world’s secure websites. For more than two years, Heartbleed has exposed usernames and passwords and has allowed outsiders to see personal information that was believed to be protected.
We would like you to know that we are working closely with our core service providers and have been assured FineMark’s secure websites have not been affected by the Heartbleed vulnerability. At this point we see no reason for you to change your secure passwords, unless you use the same password for multiple websites, outside of FineMark.
It is important to note, if you are using a ‘checker site’ to determine what websites are at risk, you may find www.finemarkbank.com is considered vulnerable. This is not a vulnerable website. Our domain name is not the website you use to access your secure accounts. The FineMark website, www.finemarkbank.com is an informational website that directs you to the secure websites. Once again, our core service providers are confident FineMark’s secure websites have not been affected.
We will continue to work with our core service providers and will keep you informed with additional developments.
