If this is the first time you’ve sent money to this recipient, enter their email address or U.S. mobile phone number into the app. Enter the amount you’d like to send and a descriptive memo (optional). Important Tips

Please keep these important tips in mind when sending money digitally:

  • Always double-check the person’s name, email address or U.S. mobile phone number before hitting “Send.” Neither Zelle nor FineMark is responsible for any errors you make while entering a recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile phone number. If the person you’ve sent money to is enrolled with Zelle, the money will be sent directly to their bank account and cannot be canceled even if the money was sent to them by mistake.
  • Don’t use Zelle to pay for purchased goods. Neither Zelle nor FineMark offers a protection program for authorized payments made with Zelle. If a problem occurs (for example, you don’t receive the item you paid for or the item you received is not what you expected), you won’t be protected.
  • For your protection, $300 is the total daily amount of money FineMark clients are allowed to send with Zelle. If you have questions about this limit, please contact us or visit one of our offices. We’re always happy to help!

Zelle® Frequently Asked Questions

About Zelle

What is <em>Zelle</em>?

Zelle is a fast, safe and easy way to send money directly between almost any bank account in the U.S., typically within minutes.1 With an email address or U.S. mobile phone number, you can send money to people you know and trust, regardless of where they bank.2

Who can I send money to?

You can send money to friends, family, and other people you know and trust.2 Because money will be sent directly from your bank account to another person’s bank account within minutes, Zelle should not be used to send money to people you don’t know.

How does <em>Zelle</em> work?

When you enroll with Zelle through FineMark’s Personal Mobile Banking app, FineMark’s name and the information you provide (your name and the email address or U.S. mobile phone number used to enroll) will be shared with Zelle. Note: No sensitive account details will be shared.

When someone sends money to your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile phone number, Zelle looks up the email address or mobile phone number in its “directory” and notifies FineMark of the incoming payment. FineMark then directs the payment into your account, all while keeping your sensitive account details private.

Can I use Zelle at more than one financial institution?

Yes, you can enroll with Zelle at multiple institutions, however, you must use a different email address or U.S. mobile phone number for each institution. For example, if you enroll with Zelle using your home email address on the FineMark app, you cannot use that same email address to enroll with Zelle at another bank. You can, however, use a different email address or U.S. mobile phone number to enroll.

Will I be charged any fees to send money using <em>Zelle</em>?

No, FineMark does not charge any fees to use Zelle.3

How do I find a participating bank?

A full list of participating banks and credit unions can be found here.

What if my recipient’s bank isn’t on the list?

If a recipient’s bank isn’t on the list, they can download and use the Zelle app for Android and iOS.

To enroll with the Zelle app, your recipients will enter their basic contact information, their email address or U.S. mobile phone number, and their Visa® or Mastercard® debit card number (which should be linked to a U.S.-based (not including U.S. territories) account).

Note: Zelle does not accept debit cards associated with international deposit accounts or any credit cards.

Can I use <em>Zelle</em> for my business?

At this time, Zelle is intended for personal use only. Note: Use of Zelle for commercial purposes is prohibited by FineMark’s Personal Mobile Banking Terms & Conditions.

Can I use <em>Zelle</em> internationally?

No. To use Zelle, both the sender’s and the recipient’s bank accounts must be based in the U.S.

Is my information secure with <em>Zelle</em>?

Keeping your money and information safe is a top priority for FineMark. When you use Zelle within FineMark’s Personal Mobile Banking app, you can send or receive money without revealing your sensitive financial account information.

How will I be notified of account activity with <em>Zelle</em>?

FineMark communications related to Zelle activity will be sent either via email from clientservice@finemarkbank.com or via text message from code number 20736.

Note: FineMark’s standard text alerts will come from code number 58084. Our standard email alerts will come from either clientservice@finemarkbank.com or operations@finemarkbank.com.

When to Use Zelle

I’m concerned about using <em>Zelle</em> to pay someone I don’t know. What should I do?

Most often, Zelle is used to pay someone back when money has been borrowed (for example, you purchased something for a friend because they forgot their credit card) or to give someone a small cash gift (for example, you gave your grandchild $20 in spending money). In general, Zelle should not be used to pay anyone you don’t personally know or trust.

Can I use <em>Zelle</em> to pay for purchased goods?

We don’t recommend using Zelle to pay for purchased goods. Neither Zelle nor FineMark offers a protection program for authorized payments made with Zelle. If a problem occurs (for example, you don’t receive the item you paid for or the item you received is not what you expected), you won’t be protected.

Sending Money with Zelle

I received an error message when I tried to enroll an email address or U.S. mobile phone number in <em>Zelle</em>. What should I do?

If you receive an error message when you try to sign up, your email address or U.S. mobile phone number may already be enrolled with Zelle at another bank or credit union.

If you want to use Zelle for your FineMark account and your U.S. mobile phone number or email address is already associated with Zelle through another financial institution, you’ll need to contact the other financial institution to disenroll your mobile phone number or email address.

For assistance, please call FineMark at (833) 461-3802. We’re always happy to help!

Will the person I send money to be notified?

Yes, they’ll receive an email or text message notification.

What if the recipient I sent money to hasn’t enrolled with <em>Zelle</em>?

If you sent money to someone who hasn’t yet enrolled with Zelle, they’ll receive a notification prompting them to enroll.

After enrollment, the money will move directly into their account. Once this first transaction is completed, they’ll receive future payments faster, typically within minutes.

Note: A recipient has 14 days to sign up and receive the money. If 14 days pass and they still haven’t enrolled, the payment will be canceled.

My payment is listed as “pending.” What should I do?

If your payment is listed as “pending” after being sent, confirm that you entered the correct email address or U.S. mobile phone number when sending the payment. If the information you entered is correct, contact the person you sent money to and confirm that they’ve enrolled with Zelle.

Can I cancel a payment after I hit “Send”?

Once a recipient enrolls with Zelle, money will be sent directly to their bank account and cannot be canceled. Before hitting “Send,” always double-check your recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile phone number and confirm the information is correct.

What if I sent money to the wrong person?

We recommend contacting the recipient and requesting reimbursement. If you’re unable to get your money back, please visit a FineMark office, call us at (833) 461-3802 or email us at clientservice@finemarkbank.com. We’re always happy to help!
